In Case You Missed It: Monroe/Boulevard Evening of Open House Events Recap

On June 28, 2018, Renew Atlanta hosted three simultaneous open house events to discuss the Monroe Drive/Boulevard project at three locations.

Meeting A featured displays on Monroe Drive/ Boulevard from Piedmont Circle to Ponce de Leon Avenue, and was held at Henry W. Grady High School. Meeting B featured displays on Monroe Drive/Boulevard from Ponce de Leon Avenue to Woodward Avenue, and was held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation and Aquatic Center. Meeting C featured displays on Monroe Drive/Boulevard from Woodward Avenue to McDonough Boulevard, and was held at the Georgia Hill Neighborhood Center. Representatives from Council Districts 1, 2, 5, and 6 attended their respective locations.

The Monroe Drive/Boulevard Complete Streets project runs from Piedmont Circle on the north to Woodward Avenue on the south.  Complete Streets are streets for everyone.  They are designed and operated to enable safe access for all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and transit riders of all ages and abilities. The Monroe Drive/Boulevard corridor has experienced high traffic volumes and safety issues associated with redevelopment and investment in the surrounding communities.  This Complete Streets project will identify existing safety and mobility issues and develop corridor improvements to improve the safety and quality of life for all users.
