For the first Atlanta Streets Alive festival of 2018, Renew Atlanta partnered with the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition and Living Infographic artist, Sarah Lawrence, to study one of the more hotly debated topics in the city: What to do with Dekalb Avenue?
Renew Atlanta is proposing a Dekalb Avenue complete street project that is designed and operated to enable safe access for all users; including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and transit riders of all ages and abilities. The project’s improvements include milling and repaving, sidewalk and ADA ramp repair and installation, reversible lane removal and the addition of bicycle facilities along DeKalb Avenue, between MARTA Inman Park-Reynoldstown Station (Hurt Street) and City Limit. The April 8th Atlanta Streets Alive event served as a prime location to gauge the attitudes of corridor users and get a sense of their commuting habits to foster empathy around all types of commuters.
Living Infographics are a fun, immersive way to collect data and engage with the people around you. You can view all results from the Dekalb Avenue infographic here.
